Rinah Is
Helping |
![]() The therapeutic component of Rinah is what enables this high school to fulfill its unique role. Today, we are seeing a most alarming increase in situations in our Orthodox community at large that require real solutions. Families are in crisis, children are suffering from various forms of trauma, and many individuals feel disconnected from a genuine source of support and guidance. This results in many instances of high school age children who require both a genuine yeshiva or Bais Yaakov type of chinuch (education) and an environment where their issues can be expertly dealt with, within a Torah framework. To date, no other such school exists. Therapeutic services are interwoven throughout the program of the school. Students participate in individual and group therapy sessions several times across the course of the week with a therapist who is particularly skilled in working with these girls. Student living quarters are staffed by an eim habayis (house mother) who is properly trained to assist in the students’ growth and development. She receives ongoing professional supervision to ensure both that she carries out her duties effectively and that she is adequately supported. Certified social workers participate in and oversee activities in the living quarters. Nightly debriefing sessions enable the staff to work with the girls on ongoing issues and challenges. A team of mentors participate, on a rotating basis, in an evening activity program wherein the girls are exposed to, and interact with, other girls who are slightly older than they are and who have a healthy Torah hashkofa (approach) and positive life outlook. Across the course of the year, students are given the opportunity to participate in experiences that are both creative and therapeutic, such as art therapy, dance and movement therapy, and music therapy. |
